Good Reads from Around the Blogosphere

There are varied opinions in our country about how we should react to the death of Osama Bin Laden. Justin Taylor writes a good article about the proper Christian response. You also might want to read Desiring God’s article “Is God Glad Osama Bin Laden is Dead?”

If you are a mom of little’s then you should read this good post on showing hospitality with small children at home.

The power of the Gospel doesn’t begin and end with salvation. It extends to all areas of life.  Read about that power transforming our reactions to life circumstances in “Despising the Shame“.

My husband mentioned at lunch that he could get into some brownies…..I think I might go up whip these yummy looking delights while the boys are at nap. All the reader comments rated the recipe with a 10!

Worth Reading

Here are a few good reads from around the blogosphere.

If you are a woman, you can totally realate to this article on hormone overload.

The good and brave hero, Dick Winters, died last week at the age of 92. You know him if you know the Band of Brothers. If you don’t, get to know who he was.

“A Deafening Silence” speaks to our Nations need for God, not silence.

I bought baby carrots on sale this week at Aldi’s. I might have to give this a try.

This is a great reminder for parents. If you  only read one of these links, make it this one.

Does God hate Haiti?

“Does God hate Haiti? God hates sin, and will punish both individual sinners and nations. But that means that every individual and every nation will be found guilty when measured by the standard of God’s perfect righteousness. God does hate sin, but if God merely hated Haiti, there would be no missionaries there; there would be no aid streaming to the nation; there would be no rescue efforts — there would be no hope.” – Dr. Albert Mohler

Let Freedom Ring…

Happy Independence Day! We had a very nice day today, and hope that you did, also. This morning we took the boys down to the square in downtown Wausau to see a little childrens parade and then spent a few hours this afternoon with the Dack’s. We took a ride in their boat, such fun! Hudson was a bit scared, especially when we got going fast. But it must not have been too bad, because he fell asleep after a little while. 🙂 Isaac loved it. At first he was a little uncertain, but after riding for a bit he really enjoyed it. In fact he told Adam that we needed to get a boat like Mr. Dack’s.  “Daddy, you just need to go to the store and buy one!” he said.  🙂

Tonight we went to a nearby park to see some fireworks. But when they announced they weren’t starting them until 9:45, we decided to head home. Adam still had studying and preparing to do for tomorrow services, and I had preparations to do also. We try not to be out late on Saturday night’s so that we are fresh and ready for Sunday. So instead we just did a few sparklers with the boys at home.

What an awesome blessing it is to be able to raise our boys in this great country. May God continue to bless our land!

Please pray for the Dack family!

In a previous post I asked you to pray for the Dack family, part of our church family. Since moving here from Australia six years ago, they have been trying to get their green card. They were told this week that they have been denied! This is a very serious situation, and I ask you to please join us in prayer. They have already begun the appeal process, and are searching out what other options and helps they can find.

This family is a vital part of our church, and very dear friends to us. Please pray for them in this difficult time, and for God’s will to be accomplished. Even if you do not know them, I know it would encourage them if they knew others were praying. If you would like to leave a comment, I will certainly pass on the encouragements to them.

Thank you for your prayers!

Please Pray!

We have a family in our church from Australia. The Dacks are a wonderful family, and a vital part of our church. For six years they have been working on getting their green cards so that they can become citizens of this country. The government is not always the easiest to work with, and can be quite frustrating at times. They have recently been told they may be deported if their case isn’t resolved in the next few weeks.

I am asking you to please pray for this situation. They are a godly, tax paying, hard working family that desires to be citizens of our great nation. They have done everything they know to possibly do, and are now asking God to intervene and resolve this matter.

Please pray for the Dack family!!!!

Plugged In Online

If you want to check out a movie before viewing or buying , Plugged In Online is a good source. I took just a few minutes to look at the site, and they seem to have quite thorough reviews and tell about both good and inappropriate content. You can look up just about any movie and see a review.

Where’s the (our) Money Going?

Take a look here at the breakdown of Obama’s stimulus package.  Looks  like more spending than stimulus to me.
