The Wonderful World of Vacation

We had a wonderful  vacation last week in Minneapolis. God gave us great weather and a sweet time together as a family. Seeing how Isaac and Hudson were enjoying themselves made everything even more fun. They are four and two, and just perfect ages for a family vacation. Old enough to be able to enjoy things and be apart of all the activities, but young enough to still have awe and wonder at all the new things…and so cute, too!

We went to The Mall of America, The Minneapolis Zoo, The Children’s Museum, biked around Minnehaha Park, did a little shopping, ate LOTS of delicious food, and did quite a bit of swimming at the hotel pool. And of course, had our beds made and rooms cleaned while we were out doing all this fun stuff! That was great! 🙂

Isaac and Hudson LOVED Lego Land at the mall. They have a neat play area there where the kids (and dads…lots of dads:) could build with lego’s and even race lego vehicles that they had made. The boys also had fun using some of their spending money there, too!

We also visited the aquarium at the mall. Very neat. Isaac especially liked the turtles and sharks.

The boys’ favorite animal at the Zoo was the bear. He was really showing off that day and kept swimming right by the glass for the kids.

Friday we went to the Children’s Museum. That was a neat place! There were all sorts of hands on activities for the kids and the boys loved it.

This was Isaac’s favorite ride, The Pepsi Orange Streak roller coaster. I could not believe how brave he was! I never though he would like something like that, but he rode it four times! Three times with Adam and once with me. I held on very tight while I was on that ride…but Isaac wasn’t timid in the least. He had a blast on it!

Both boys loved this race car ride…they rode it quite a few times!

One of the highlights for me was biking around Minnehaha Park in this surrey.

And there was lots of swimming!

And plenty of good food! Eating out every day was a special treat for us. I’d say my top three favorite places of the week were Famous Dave’s, The RainForest Cafe and The Cheescake Factory. YUM!

At the end of the week when explaining to Isaac that it was time to go home to Wisconsin he was quite sad. I told him, “We have to get back to real life, buddy.” And he said, “So this is fake life?” 🙂 I told him it was “vacation life.” 🙂

I am so thankful that the Lord gave us this sweet time together and allowed us such a wonderful week. We will be talking about this trip for a long time to come.

Great Pictures! The surrey was so cool. I’m anxious to hear all about it personally from the boys – very soon!
