Pineapple Layer Cake

Pineapple Layer Cake Recipe

  • 1 package (18-1/4 ounces) yellow cake mix
  • 1 can (11 ounces) mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1 can (20 ounces) unsweetened crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1 package (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 package (12 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • Directions:

Prepare cake batter according to package directions. Beat in oranges until blended. Pour into two greased and floured 9-in. round baking pans. Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.
Combine pineapple and dry pudding mix; fold in whipped topping. Spread between layers and over top and sides of cake. Store in the refrigerator. Yield: 12 servings.

    * I made this last night for our Wednesday Bible Study and got a big thumbs up! It was very easy to make, and quite tasty!

    Growing up…faster than I thought!

Sunday evening when we got to church, Isaac asked if he could take his toy inside. I told him “no” and that he needed to leave it in the van.  He said, “Mama, I’m a teenager, and teenagers can do that.”  Hiding a chuckle, I said, “No Isaac, you are not a teenager. You won’t be a teenager until you turn thirteen.” He replied, “But Mama, don”t you know I’m a three-eenager!?”  All I could do was laugh.

Where does he come up with these things?! 🙂

    Summer Fun

Yesterday afternoon we took the boys to a local water playground. What fun! We haven’t had very many days warm enough for water fun yet this summer, but yesterday was just perfect. It’s quite a neat little place for kids to play, and it was well worth the 50 cents per person cost. The boys had a great time, and  it must have worn them out, because this morning they both slept past 8:00! 🙂  Hopefully we will be able to make it back for some more fun  again before the warm summer days disappear.

    Down on the Farm

Free fair tickets. Family of four. Farm animals. Fun, fun, fun!

    My Walgreens deals this week

Lately the deals at Walgreens have been few and far between. This week was a great pick me up for my deal craving soul! 🙂 I did quite a few transactions this week, and snagged some great deals.

This is what I got: 4 (2 count each) packs of toothbrushes, 2 Vitamin shampoos, 2 Vitamin conditioners, 8 Sauve deotorants, 1 pkg of paperclips, 1 pencil sharpener, 1 pkg of highlighters, 1 bottle of Dawn dish soap, 1 pkg of diapers, 19 legal pads. 8 bottles of Vaseline lotion, and 2 pkgs of pencils.

My total cost, after register rewards, was $10.10 (including tax). Not bad for all that! And $6.00 of that was for the diapers.

If you want to read more about finding great deals like this, be sure to check out “frugal living” on my sidebar for a list of helpful sites. Be sure to stop over at Money Saving Mom to check out her Super Saving Saturday post!

Wish I would have thought of this for my wedding…:)
