Afternoon with JuJu

My sister Jillian came over yesterday to spend the afternoon with us. “Aunt JuJu” and Isaac are best buds. Jillian is leaving for college next week, and we are going to miss her very much. While she was over I thought I would get a few pictures of her with the boys.

Updated Photo Album

I have finally updated the “Photo Album” link on my sidebar. Check it out to see pictures of the boys from this past month.

“…then am I strong.”

“Anxiety does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, but only empties today of its strength.” – C.H. Spurgeon

This quote by Spurgeon caught my attention this morning, as it seemed to go well with what I read in the Scriptures yesterday. Yesterday morning I was considering why the Lord allows his children to often go through hard times. My eyes were directed to this passage in II Corinthians 12:

8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

I often find myself weaker than I thought I was when it comes to trials. But I also always find Christ’s strength far greater than I could imagine. I suppose we could consider each trial as a good work out, as God strengthens our spiritual muscles!

Hudson’s Newest Adventure

Hudson did great at his newest adventure – food! Here he is enjoying his yummy baby rice cereal. He was a little messy, but of course that could be partially due to the fact that we let Isaac take a turn feeding him too! 🙂

It’s a Break Through!

Hudson cut his first tooth yesterday!

You still have to look very close to see it, but it’s there!

Oswald Chambers on Prayer

“…what makes prayer easy is not our wits or our understanding, but the tremendous agony of God in redemption. A thing is worth just what it costs. Prayer is not what it costs us, but what it cost God to enable us to pray.” – Oswald Chambers in If You Will Ask

“A Brother is a Friend God Gives You”

We had a little photo shoot before church last night. Getting both boys to look at me at the same time (and not the cars or people passing by) was a little bit of a challenge, but I thought these ones turned out really cute. Of course it helps to have such adorable boys! 🙂

Hudson Turns Six Months

Hudson turned six months old yesterday! He is such a sweetie and brings much fun to our family. Right now his favortite things are sitting in his bouncer or highchair, being loved on, chewing on his hands, and playing with his toys. He also loves to watch his older brother, is quite interested in all of Isaac’s toys, and laughs harder at Isaac’s funny antics than at anything else. Hudson will return a smile to nearly anyone. We think he’s adorable, what do you think? 🙂

An Excellent Read

I just finished reading “Jungle Pilot”, a biography about Nate Saint, the martyred missionary to Ecuador. I was intrigued, challenged, and blessed by this telling of his life. A life wholly given to Christ.

You can get a free copy of this book here.

In the Waiting Room

This week the Lord provided a job for Adam to help us pay the bills while we continue to seek for the church He has for us. While we are thankful that the Lord has cared for us this way, it has also been a bit discouraging to realize we are once again in the “waiting room”. Through the past month we have seen the Lord care for our needs in so many unexpected ways, and to Him we give much praise and thanks. Please continue to pray for our family as we wait upon the Lord and His timing.

 Philippians 4:19

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
